Hello Everyone,
I have 4 years of exp and my background is primarily game/gameplay development (Unity3D/Unreal ) etc. The system design questions I found in the grokkin and primer is way too off from my day to day job and unfortunately I've not come across an opportunity to work with systems. But I understand that this is the level playing field for all interview candidates applying for companies like FAANG.
How am I supposed to prepare for system design interview when everything I would say in interview will be superficial understanding (I am an engineer , I work with memory allocation and I understand load balancing, the gist of the problem etc when I read from those websites etc) . But I don't work with cloud/distributed systems or even databases for that matter, I have a FAANG on site in 15-20 days. Will they try to be relevant when they ask design questions based on my background.
Either way, my plan is to fully understand the various components of designing a system in the next 2 weeks and figure out the basic questions in those guides (Uber, facebook, instagram design questions). I beleive once we understand the patterns, no matter how they change the question, I will be able to mix and match and come to a solution?
Any help is highly appreciated.
