So I recently got job offers for new grad roles at Amazon and Facebook and I need help deciding between the two jobs. This is my analysis so far:
Amazon
-
Pros
- higher salary by about 10k
- higher sign-on payment by about 5k for 2 years
- better stock
- cooler technology (AWS, E-commerce, Alexa)
- Perks: can take your dog to work LOL
- great customer satisfaction
-
Cons:
- less relocation package
- no yearly bonus
- fewer vacation days
- less work-life balance, harder management
- much less equity over 4 years
- higher cost of living in SF
- no autonomy, work and teams dictated
- no training program
Facebook
- Pros:
- Cheaper cost of living in Menlo Park
- yearly bonus
- higher equity
- 21 vacation days
- Better management and work-life balance
- Perks: free food, shuttles, corporate housing for about 2 months, cooler campus
- Training bootcamp 6-8 weeks
- Can choose line of work
- Easier promotions and faster growth
- Cons:
- lower salary by about 10k
- lower sign-on payment and only for one year
- less interesting tech (FB features)
- stock is not as great b/c of recession
- stressful performance review cycles
- bad ethics and scandals
Could anyone offer further insights into why I should choose one company over the other? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Also some of this info may be wrong, so correct me on my analysis if so haha.
