Stress and Seeking advice

Hi folks, I have some stress and need some advice:

  1. I switched major(after completing a degree in architecture) and am quite old (28), I'm currently only year 2 in cs bachelor and I heard that old IT guys (35+) cannot keep up and are prone to elimination. However I feel like the more you code the more experience you get, and the better u code... So why is it the other way around? Am I too old?

  2. I'm good at math and want to go on artificial intelligence (I heard it's a lot of $$$). I feel like if you manage to enter that area then you gain more job security, and age probably is less of an issue as the foundational math knowledge is not evolving fast as the technology. Am I right on this?

I like programming but I'm stressing out a lot right now, did I make a wrong choice again? Please be honest.
