Blacklist & bad remarks warning by my manager during resignation

I resigned from my job recently, during resignation one of my manager warned me of blacklist and bad remarks in background verification. He told he did this earlier to a employee and he is unemployed. Does he have the power to influence background verification or put bad remarks? Can labour courts help here, I was top performer but he got triggered when i resigned, He was quite egoistic and tried to show his authority by showing the teams that work under him. I am not at all intimidated with his words because he was talking unprofessionaly, even if I stayed after his words it was against my ethics.

Any suggestions if I get bad remarks, some friends suggested to sue the company in labor court.
