Hello everyone,\n\nPlease advice me on deciding between joining SDE 1 at a top product based company vs an early stage startup (6 months old but quite promising) with the same compensation.\n\n**Background**\n\n2022 B.E. from Tier 1 Engineering College\n\nY.O.E : 0 (Just out of college)\n\nCompensation : 23 lpa in both the companies.\n\nProduct based company salary breakup : 18 (fixed) + 2 (variable) + 3 (joining)\n\nEarly stage startup salary breakup : 18 (fixed) + 5 (ESOPs)\n\n**Decision**\n\nGuys please help me make an informed decision keeping note of the following points: \n\n1. I will be a part of the core founding team if I decide to go with the startup. \n\n2. I will get more ownership of work and more learning opportunities given that the team is small.\n\n3. The ESOPs would be really valuable if the company grows.\n\n4. If I choose the product based company I will get the brand value if I decide to switch to another company. (Actually how much does branch value matters in switching companies).\n\n5. More stability and security in the product based company as opposed to the startup.\n\n\nAny advice is solicited.\nThanks.\n
