Hi all,

I have an offer from Google (Seattle) and an offer from Meta with flexible location options, including the full remote option. The compensation is the same.

I am currently in between these two options:

• Google, work in Seattle
• Meta, work remotely from Miami

I am living in Miami. Despite that I don't have family/friends here, it became a comfort zone for me in many ways. The sunshine, never ending flip-flop season, having immediate access to nice beaches, low cost of living, an uncrowded and familiar neighborhood.. Although Google and working in an office seem like a better career choice, I came to the point where I started questioning the meaning of life, and whether it is worth to give up on these positives and live in a grey city (Seattle) for many years to come.

I might be exaggerating the differences with such (emotional?) thoughts, so here I am to ask what you think.

This is the pros/cons list I have so far for the comparison.

Meta:
(+) No need to relocate, continue enjoying the sunshine state
(-) Potentially worse work/life balance
(-) "Move fast" culture does not exactly fit my philosophy
(-) (feels like) Less reliable than Google, stocks halved recently
(-) (feels like) If things go wrong in Meta, likely to get fired first (newly joined, working remotely)

Google:
(+) More reliable than Meta
(+) Better work/life balance
(+) Better career choice (work in office)
(-) Need to relocate to Seattle (constant rain, grey sky, colder weather)

I had California option with Google but I did not consider it since the compensation was much lower with the taxes and high cost of living.
