Hi all, I am a Tier-1 college passout.
I started my career with Goldman Sachs. Feeling bad to say, but it is the worst mistake of my life. In my college, I also had an offer from other company, which was paying less than GS. So, I considered joining Goldman Sachs.
Literally, I repented that decision very much, everyday was kind of burden for me. The tactics Goldman Sachs use is - "Give more money, and extract the most from you."
My life was becoming monotonic day by day, lots of work load. Most of my friends were happy even with less salary, but on the other side, I was paid more than them, but seriously I wanted to quit GS.
Luckily, I got offer from a Bangalore based startup, paying less than GS, but I am very happy/satisfied now. The work I am doing is much better than GS. Though the pay is less, but in front of statisfaction, that 30-35k per month extra don't matter much.
I suggest you, if you can work for a long long hours, and consider money as the only factor, you may join, otherwise avoid such firm.
One last thing, GS has started offcampus hiring through ECHP, which lots of people clear using cheating only, and the interviews are pretty much easy. So, the quality of engineers joining GS may degrade a lot :(
Cheers and best of luck 👍
