I have about 2 yrs of exp in current company(1.5 FTE + 0.5 Intern). Out of that, I spent 1.5 yrs on DL(developed novel models), and 0.5 yrs on SDE stuff that still applies to DL.

I think I am well suited for DL related roles, but I am also able to crack coding rounds for SDE roles. Is it sensible to switch from DL to SDE? I don't care much about the tech itself, unless it's really boring(no frontend please!). I am just chasing money.

Personally I feel SDE is much low stress than DL. When writing code, you know how well you are progressing. You might deliver 80% requirements, and that might be acceptable. OTOH, in DL you don't know until last moment whether the model is going to be usable. You deliver 95%+ or nothing. Also too much competition in DL with all the new grads with DL degrees entering the market, while I have Comp Sci background.
