I finished my first software engineering internship last week. I made one deployment from my summer-long project.

Overall, I worked with great people, but I barely even coded or did anything. In the entirety of my time, I wrote like 50 lines of code and spent so much time testing APIs with little documentation. Much of testing was hindered by the API endpoints I was given not working due to them being part of an in-progress project. Everyone within my team liked me and thought I did well. My intern manager told me I was great, but that I wasn't doing the work that I deserve. The one developer I worked most closely with admitted he thought we were doing awful about halfway through the internship. Looking back, the only real thing I even learned was how to use Jenkins and Insomnia.

I was called to schedule a final round interview in the coming weeks. I mentioned I have applied to other companies and expect to receive other offers. I requested to push back my interview date due to scheduling conflicts I have. Then, the HR associate I spoke to asked if I was sure I was still interested, to which I responded yes and that I was simply requesting a postponement. I mentioned to her that I was mostly concerned with deadline for a decision to be made. When I asked how long they were looking to provide should an offer be made, she said she didn't know.

I feel right now, I'm going to try to get a fully remote offer due to the pandemic or one that is at least remote for the time being and will convert to in-office when things may improve. I feel like interviewing anyways for practice and to know the terms of the compensation, but I'm hoping to land another offer. I would definitely take this as a back up should I not be able to land another role.
