don't worry

If you are reading this, you are probably preparing for your next job switch. All I want to say is all the best with it.

But there is something more I would want all of you who are reading this to know. This applies to everyone, be you in college or a senior software engineer with like 5 years of experience.

You all must have been to the compensation part of this website and are probably wooed by the packages engineers are being offered. Know that you will be posting on that same forum one day too and you'll be proud of yourself for what you have achieved. Don't belittle yourself if you don't make as much as some people do. Know that what you do today as an engineer has more weightage than the money you can ever make. Aspire to be a better engineer, aspire to be a better software developer every day, money is a subset of it, you might be late but you will be there.

Yea some folks may buy that fancy bike sooner than you or have 1 bedroom more than you do one day, but at the end of the career when you are no longer grinding leetcode for another job, you will thank you to give engineering more importance the paycheck you received.

Yes, today you might make 20,000 dollars or 10 lakh rupees less than someone but hell you might impact 10 million people and make their lives better in some way. Know that you have the power to do that, money will follow, and you'll be filthy rich one day(I believe in you).

Trust me I meet 10s and 100s of people who I have impacted with the product that I build. I see them and all I can think is that what I am doing is amazing yea I might not make as much as my friend but hell yeah.

You will learn how to make money but don't forget what makes you happy. because your paycheck will put a smile on your face on the 1st of every month rest 29 days you will still have to deal with your shitty life. So find something you believe in.

Long live computer science and it's never too late to learn something or to build something(do it anyways)

Bye :)
